VALENCIA. As part of the modernization plan implemented by APM Terminals Gateways Spain, APM Terminals Valencia plans to incorporate two new Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes in the first quarter of 2025, as confirmed to this newspaper by company sources.
The stevedoring company, which manages the Levante and Llovera docks in the Port of Valencia, plans to receive two new ZPMC Triple E cranes next September, “which will substantially improve the terminal’s technical and operational capabilities,” according to the company.
The new machinery will arrive disassembled, and APM Terminals Valenciana plans to put it into service during the first quarter of 2025.
Over the past year, APM Terminals Valencia has implemented an ambitious investment plan. A year ago, the company invested 3.6 million euros to increase its capacity, improve equipment, and improve the incoming flow of trucks to the terminal. This investment included the acquisition of new tractor units, the implementation of new RTGs, and the creation of a new access for heavy vehicles.
Specifically, the terminal commissioned 11 new Terberg YT223 tractor units for container handling, as well as the commissioning of four RTG cranes with a lifting capacity of 50 tons.

The two new cranes will be positioned at Muelle de Levante next to the existing Triple E cranes. For now, one of the terminal’s oldest STS cranes has already been dismantled, and a second crane is planned to be dismantled in the coming months, which would make room for the installation of the two new units.
